UPDATE! Rite Aid Robbers Caught!

May 11, 2010
A convicted felon and his girlfriend were arrested last night at their Cheyenne Boulevard home after she
was identified as the woman who robbed the CVS Pharmacy at 1793 North Gallatin Pike in Madison on
April 27th.

Jessica Potts, 36, admitted she was armed with a handgun when she demanded OxyContin from the
pharmacist. Her boyfriend, Thomas Schroeder, 30, is believed to be the getaway driver who fired shots
into the air as the couple fled in a white pickup truck.

Potts also confessed to robbing the CVS Pharmacy at 7112 Highway 70 South on January 14th and the
Rite Aid at 1241 Robinson Road on April 22nd. In both robberies, she showed the pharmacist a gun and
demanded OxyContin.

For now, Potts and Schroeder are charged with one count of aggravated robbery each. Schroeder is also
charged with aggravated assault.

Potts’ arrest history reflects previous convictions for DUI and leaving the scene of an accident. Schroeder
has been arrested 38 times with convictions for aggravated assault, domestic assault, burglary, theft, drug
possession and DUI.

Numerous weapons were also recovered from the couple’s residence including a loaded AK-47 assault
rifle, a shotgun and five handguns.

Additional charges are pending.

OxyContin.  The pharmacist complied.  The suspect fled on foot.

The suspect is a white woman with long brown hair who is approximately 5’3” tall and weighs
approximately 115 pounds.  At the time of the robbery she wore sunglasses, a dark blue short-sleeved
shirt, baggy jeans and white tennis shoes.

4-14-10 The following pertains to the alledged incident with the little girl who was walking home from
school.

I contacted Sgt Watkins about this and his response was "I am familiar with the incident. A crime was not
committed and no one exposed themselves." That was all he would say.

I then received this from a reliable source:

Regarding the incident with the little girl walking to school, the man didn't expose himself.  She lives on
Birdsall and was walking to school last Wednesday when the man in a black SUV pulled along side her
and tried to talk with her.  She ignored him and kept walking.  He then went around the block and was
waiting for her on Turner, out of his vehicle, on the sidewalk.  He then grabbed himself (fully clothed)
and asked her for a dollar.  She started running.  He got back in his vehicle and followed behind her until
she got almost to my house where he then turned off on a side street.  I saw the girl running from my
kitchen window, but did not see the vehicle.
I got all of this info from the girl herself and her mom.  The police were notified the same day.  Later the
girl noticed the same vehicle in front of a home on Riverside near the marina.  Three men live there and
one of the men is the one who harrassed the little girl. The police took pictures to the school where she
identified the man.  All of the three have police records, but none of them have any type of sexual
offenses.  Evidently the police can't do anything about this incident because there was no actual crime
committed.  The police are being very vague with the family, I guess because of the man's rights or
whatever.  The family is very distressed and has made arrangements for the girl to not walk to or from
school anymore.  I'm distressed because I still see young girls and boys walking by themselves to and from
school.

The best course of action we can take right now is to keep a very close eye on the children of this
neighborhood and educate them about situations such as this and the proper course of action they should
take if they should ever encounter such a person!

___________________________________________________________________________

4-13-10 The following report was sent in today:

FYI. Police knocked on my neighbors door the other morning trying to see if anyone had seen anything
suspicious. Apparently a little girl walking to school was followed by a man in a car who got out and
exposed himself to her around 17th and Turner St. I haven't seen/heard anymore about it but this is the
kind of information that everyone in the Village needs to be aware of. We have lots of kids in the
neighborhood - please watch out for them, especially if you see them walking alone. This person has been
identified as a resident of the neighborhood and lives close to the marina on Riverside.

Be AWARE and report any and all suspicious behaviors to the police!

3-5-10 I have been informed by Sgt. Curtis Watkins that the Metro Police Interactive Map is not working
properly due to software issues. They are presently working with the vendor to try and resolve the
problem. So I'm sorry to say the crime reports I sent out for Jan.and Feb.showing zero crime are not
true. I should have caught this earlier because there were 17 crimes reported for Jan. and Feb. of last
year... it just didn't add up. And I would imagine the Dec. 2009 report that only shows 2 crimes is not
correct either. Sgt. Watkins couldn't give me a date when the problem would be fixed but hopefully it will
be soon. He was able to give me YTD totals for reported crime in the Village (listed below) but not all the
categories that I compile were available (such as assault and larceny which is usually the number one
crime). In the meantime it's all the more important for everyone to send in any known crime activity to
info@thevillagewatch.org . Your name and private info will always remain confidential! Thanks ~ Mike
Smith

11-03-09 The details I've been able to gather are sketchy right now but here's what I was able to
get from an employee:

Sometime late yesterday evening a dark complected male white entered Rite Aid and headed to the
pharmacy department where he presented a hand gun. He was said to possibly be in his mid 30's,
wearing an open faced motorcycle helmet, sunglasses, black jacket, and had a mustache. He then
left on foot but was thought to probably have a motorcycle stashed close by.

If any of this info rings a bell to you please contact the police at once

.
Shooting on Debow St.
10-4-09 There was shooting at 10## Debow St. on Sat. night October 3rd shortly before midnight.
According to Sgt. Curtis Watkins there was a dispute and Larry Hughes was arrested for
aggravated assault. He is being prosecuted by the Herm. precinct and is being held on a $250,000
bond.

Felix has been returned!
9-30-09 Felix the Rite Aide cat who was abducted has been returned safe and sound. Here's some
details as provided by one of our NW watch members Keely Caplinger............
Apparently the neice of the lady who took him saw the signs and told the catnapper she would call
the police if she didn't return him. Apparently Felix hasn't been eating or drinking (he is still a chunk,
but looked a lil smaller) and since he hadn't had his meds he was sneezing his head off. The lady who
took him lived all the way out on Due West and she said it was raining really bad the night she took
him. Said she didn't realize he belonged to anyone. I will give her the benefit of the doubt and I'm
grateful he's home. I took my dog Trix along for the ride. She celebrated with a hamburger from
Mickey D's. Great end to a long day. Thanks God...ya made A LOT of people happy ♥ Thanks for
all your hard work in getting those signs out Keely, they really paid off!

Help Us Find Felix!
9-22-09 Sunday evening around 8:30pm "Felix" the cat that lives at the Rite Aide store was abducted. The
person that did this was described as a heavy set white woman in her 30's driving a grey or silver Honda
Civic with a spoiler on the back. I know I have seen this car in the Village many times so please try and
get a plate number on this car and let's get Felix back to Rite Aide where he belongs. It was on the
Channel 4 news last night and Channel 2 was interviewing people at the Rite Aide parking lot at noon today
so look for a story tonight possibly. Felix is not just any cat, he is probably single handedly responsible for
at least half of Rite Aides business! Everybody loves Felix and lots of people shop there (including
myself!) just to get to see him and give him a pat on the head. There is also a reward! Anyone with
information please contact Billy Sawyer 847 3109 or Sheila 305 3257.

8-27-09 Hermitage Precinct detectives are working to identify the man who robbed the Rite Aid
Pharmacy at 1241 Robinson Road Tuesday afternoon.

The suspect entered just after 12 noon, showed the clerk a handgun, and demanded pain
medication.  The clerk complied.  The robber fled on foot.

The suspect is described as a black man in his mid-30s with a mustache and goatee.  He is
approximately six feet tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds.  At the time of the robbery, he
was wearing a grey sweatshirt, dark pants, sunglasses and a Titans ball cap. if you have any
information on this crime call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.

The following was reported from channel 4 news:

7-20-09 Metro police said a man is impersonating a city employee whose job is inspecting houses and
answering complaints and that his intent is to rob. Ernest McClain has been a Metro Codes inspector for
25 years. And if anyone has a question about that, he has the proof. "When I go to a door, first thing I do
is show my badge. That's who I am," he said.

The type of car he drives is also a part of who he is ."All our vehicles are decaled, every one of them. We
don't have any plain vehicles," said McClain .But a man has been going around the Hermitage area
pretending to be a codes inspector."A gentleman in a white pickup truck, male, white, wearing a white
shirt with 'Metro Codes' written on the back," said Sgt. Scott Robinson of Metro police.Police said they
think the man is up to no good. Metro Codes inspectors said homeowners should use common sense
before letting anyone into their home."People need to be wary. People need to practice and also ask for
identification," said Billy Fields of the Metro Codes Department.

The man has apparently been spotted in east and west Nashville as well as the Hermitage area."Someone's
trying to get into your house, someone's trying to gain access to your property, and you don't know why?
As far as I'mconcerned, yes sir, they're a threat," said Robinson.Metro Codes officials said they have 52
inspectors and 52 white sedan-type cars and no trucks at all.Police say not to let the man inside your
home but to try to get all the information you can from him, and give then them a call.

7-23-09 There was a drive-by shooting Wednesday night on the 1500 block of Elliston St. The following
was taken from Channel 5 news:

Several homes and vehicles were shot up in the middle of the night. Neighbors said a family was often in a
dispute with another group of young people and they were caught in the crossfire.Jacob Garrett bolted off
this bullet-riddled couch Thursday morning with one thought.
"Just drop - get away - duck down," said Garret. "I just waited - hit twice over there, another behind the
couch and then they stopped."Several bullets had been fired into Matthew Sullivan's home. He admitted
there was a party at his home last night. Police believe a dispute with a group of party-goers may have led
to the shooting hours later.  "I came running down and Jacob was on the ground saying ‘get down - get
Down' and we heard them as they go on just shooting," said Sullivan .The shooting also terrified Corey
Sullivan. She showed the bullets came to her and her one-year-old daughter Peyton. "Look there's one
here. Here - barely missed the window here and here. There's one went through the playpen if this
happened during the day she would not be with us," said Corey Sullivan .Several homes along Elliston near
Robinson Avenue were hit by bullets. Police spent much of the morning taking pictures of bullet holes in
homes and one that went through Nick Compton's car."You just kinda jumped up not really knowing
what's going on - you didn't even know it was a gunshot until after it was over," said Compton .Metro
Police think they know who was responsible for the shootings and arrests could come very soon.

7-7-09 This was just sent in:

Dear Village Watch,

A friend of mine asked that we report to you a burglary we had last night/this morning (July 6-7) at the
Old Hickory Library. Burglars entered and left by a window, and stole two large coin boxes that go with
copiers and printers, plus some personal checks.  Anyone with knowledge of the crime or whereabouts of
the large  boxes should call Sgt. John Patton of the Hermitage Precinct (862-7706) and me, Ronnie Pugh
(Library Manager) at 862-5869.

7-2-09 I was standing on my front porch tonight about 9:30pm talking to a neighbor when a young white
male about 16 who was walking down the street came up to me and ask me if I had seen 2 black males in
the last few minutes. When I enquired why, he told me they had just tried to abduct and rape his sister in
the parking lot of the community center. He said some people who were nearby saw what was happening
and came to her rescue but the 2 guys took off running. Metro police were called and are currently
looking for them. They were described as a tall skinny black male and a shorter husky black male. They
were both young but age is unknown. I'll try and find out more about this. If anyone has any information
call Metro police at once (862-8600).

6-23-09 On Tuesday June 23 at approximately 5:15 pm a trailer with lawn mowing equipment was stolen
from a resident in Rayon City.  The neighbor who lives next door the trailer saw someone back into the
drive and hook up the trailer.  When the neighbor realized it was not the owner he came out of his house
to question  the person.  As the neigbor approached the person, the person hurriedly left with trailer in
tow.  The person was a mid-thirty white male.  He was in a white midsize pickup.  It was similar to an S-
10 or Ford Ranger.  The trailer and equipment description is as follows:
- single axel with no wheel fenders
- trailer rail is 18 inches high.  Bottom of rail is black, top and verticals are silver.  Rail is  half trailer length
on one side.
- rear of trailer has no rail and no attached ramps.  Portable wooden ramps lay on trailer bed.
- has diamond silver tool box across trailer front
- had a 42 inch sears riding mower, a 20 inch push mower with red deck, a Bolens gas weed eater with
16 inch straight shaft, a Weed Eater gas blower and 18 inch Weed Eater gas hedge trimmer
It was reported to have been seen at OH McDonald's yesterday.

6-9-09 A neighbor has turned in a report of what happened on the 1400 block of Elliston on Monday night
June 8th.

A group of black teenagers stole a bunch of green peaches from a neighbors house and proceeded to pelt
another neighbors house with them.  The hit the house several times, their vehicle and nearly hit the man
who lives there.  My house was not hit but I had peaches in my back yard and my car windshield was
nearly hit. When Metro arrived they found the kids at the ballfield and brought them back to our block.
Another neighbor saw the kids who did it and identified them.  The kids were given citations and the
neighbor who had the peaches stolen and the other neighbor whose house was it are both filing charges.  I
told the officer that I would be willing to be a witness since although I didn't see who did it, I can testify
that I saw the peaches being thrown and nearly hit the man and his (relative).  These kids are all from the
same family and do not live in Old Hickory, they live in East Nashville.  The officer was there for at least 3
hours gathering information.  The kids left with their mother who has assured us (if you can believe her)
that the kids will not be back in our neighborhood.  My neighbors are all up in arms about this and we are
not going to take this from a bunch of little hoodlums who have no respect for anyone.  You should have
heard the way they were talking to their mother.

5-22-09  This was sent in from a concerned neighbor:

On 5/21 at approximately 8:45 pm, my mother was visiting an elderly friend on the 600 block of Hadley
outside. A young, petite blonde woman approached them asking for money. She said she had left her
abusive boyfriend and was staying with a friend up the street. She also said she has a 2 yr. old child. She
said she needed $6 or $7 to buy diapers and get something to eat. The elderly lady went inside her home to
get the girl some money. While waiting outside, my mom gave the girl $1 and the girl said she really could
use around $10. After my mom's friend returned with a few dollars, the girl said she was going down the
street to her boss' house to see if he could take her to get something to eat and give her a ride to work.
She said she was a home health nurse. A few minutes later after my mom went home, her friend called
her and said someone had just come to her door banging on it. Not knocking, but banging. Since she is
elderly, she never answers the door unless she is expecting visitors and they know to call out her name
when knocking. The person at the door left shortly and the lady heard a car drive off.  Not sure if that had
anything to do with the girl asking for money or not. My mom was describing the incident to one of her
neighbors on Cleves Street, and he said he recognized the description of the girl and that she was a known
drug user in the neighborhood. If the girl really needs help, I hope she finds it but please watch out for our
elderly neighbors who may get taken advantage of.  Thanks!

UPDATE! The blonde headed girl has been seen in a beat up silver cadillac with temp tags in the back
window. She is almost always traveling with a young black girl who looks and dresses like a guy. The car
has to be jumped off every time they turn it off and they run out of gas quite frequently. Thats when they
start beating on doors asking for gas money (or drug money) and also trying to get someone to jump the
piece of crap off. The black girl is very aggressive and foul mouthed. If you encounter this car or these
girls do not give them money or jump their car off. If they knock on your door do not answer, and call
the police.

______________________________________________________________________________________

5-16-09 The following was sent in from a member of our watch group:
Just after school let out on Friday the 15th two young black men were walking around the neighborhood
and taking stuff from the yards and dropping it off farther down the street, they tried to take take my girls
bikes from the library. Not sure where they live, my neighbor followed them and tried to find out, but they
were too fast. These guys were on Jones St between the library and Rachels Walk. Police were called.

______________________________________________________________________________________

5-16-09 Does anyone have any information about the incident that happened at the Old Hickory Nazarene
Church about 3:30pm on Friday the 15th? There were 4 police cars, an ambulance, and supposedly
someone was arrested. If you have any info about this please submit to
info@thevillagewatch.org
I have put in an inquiry to Sgt Watkins about this.

UPDATE! Here's an update about the incident at the Nazarene Church on Friday. This info was supplied
by 2 members of our watchgroup and from what I can gather, it (unofficially) happened something like
this:

Friday afternoon about 3PM a man and his wife got into a fight over on Cleves St. The woman called the
police on him and he took off running to the Presbyterian Church. When the police got there he bolted
over to the Nazarene Church where he said he was going to kill himself. As far as I know he was
apprehended and arrested without incident.

Another member also wrote in to say the man was wielding a knife and the police had to draw their guns
on him.

______________________________________________________________________________________

5-16-09 And does anyone know why military (supposedly Blackhawk) helicopters are buzzing the
neighborhood lately? They were here last week, this past Thurs. night, and Friday night that I know of.
They are really flying low and rattle the whole house! I will try to contact air traffic control.

UPDATE! I can't say for sure but from the info I been able to gather these are more than likely Police
Helo's. There was an incident at O.H. Bridge on thurs or fri between 8:30 and 9:00. Several police cars
were on the scene and a neighbor in Waterford reported several low flying metro police copters.

______________________________________________________________________________________

5/11/09 We have received several e-mails concerning reports of kids in the Village spray painting
everything from street signs, a car, and someones garage door. These incidents have happened on Elliston
St., Berry St., Bryan St. and probably others I'm not aware of. This information was passed on to Sgt.
Watkins of the Metro Police Dept. but if anyone has any other information please report it! So be on the
lookout for them and don't hesitate to call the police on any kids who are walking the streets after curfew.
This is where a lot of the trouble starts!

______________________________________________________________________________________

4/30/09 We have received several e-mails today concerning some white males going door to door claiming
to be selling security systems. Many people were concerned as to whether these guys were legit or trying
a scam of some kind.

I personally tracked one of these guys down about 3pm today at 6th and Jones and stopped him to ask
what he was doing and to see his credentials. He gave me his name, his boss' name and said he worked
for a company called 5 Diamond Protection.
http://www.fivediamondprotection.com/ . I called their
corporate office to verify the info and they checked out ok. They will be in the neighborhood for the next
2 days trying to sign people up for a home security system. They do not manufacture the systems (DSC)
but only market them. They will probably show you an inflated retail price sheet and then tell you they will
give you all the equipment for free if you sign a contract. I checked their website, and the monthly fee's
seem a little high to me but you can be the judge of that.

The guy told me they worked on salary so it didn't matter if he sold any systems or not. He was very nice
and answered all my questions. So the bottom line is, these guys are legit and just trying to make a living
like the rest of us so try not to give them too hard of a time if you're not interested. But thanks to all those
who sent in e-mails and pictures because this is how NW should work!

4/24/09 Hermitage Precinct detectives following up on Monday’s solved murder of Darius Turner on
Burnett Road near Old Hickory Beach are working to locate the person believed to have stolen items from
and around Turner’s body before it was discovered.

Nathan Daniel Neal was arrested Tuesday for killing Turner.  Neal claims the gun he used was left with
the body.  The gun was not found Monday.  An extensive search of Burnett Road and neighboring woods
today by more than 40 police officer trainees was unsuccessful in locating additional evidence.  Also
missing are Turner’s Air Jordan tennis shoes, which had been removed from his feet by the time a
security guard discovered the body at 2 p.m. Monday.

Anyone with information about the gun and/or Turner’s shoes is urged to contact Detective Johnny
Crumby at 862-7727. Neal claims he shot Turner during a drug dispute while the two were in a moving
vehicle and then dumped the body on a remote section of Burnett Road.

4/06/09 The following was reported this weekend by a member of our watch group: "I just wanted to let
you know that I got a call from a friend of mine  at 1##  Robinson Rd this weekend. At 2-2:30 AM a guy
broke into their house as they were sleeping. She heard the alarm going off and thought that her Mom
which is in her 80's had gone outside without turning off the alarm.  She then went running to the living
room and saw a guy standing in her Mom's doorway. When the man saw her he ran away. I know that is
not in our Watch program but it is so close I wanted to give you a heads up on it".
